He said commuter traffic is harder on the bearing than road course use because of all the time spent idling, and the fact that most commuter cars don't drop their trannys very often for maintenance. The heat and grit ruins the grease and can cause the bearing to fail prematurely.
It may not happen all the time, but it is not worth the risk imho. There really isn't much to be gained with the roller bearing...rev matching might be a tiny bit easier. Otherwise it is a pointless mod. I've never heard of the bronze bushing failing.
